Young Democratic Socialists of Princeton Workers’ Protest

On Thursday, April 27, YDS held a Workers’ March along with Campus Dining employees and shop stewards of SEIU Local 175, the worker’s union. The protest was in regard to concerns about the treatment of workers during the snowstorm in March 2017. The YDS is demanding that the University back-pay workers that did not receive overtime pay because their shifts were outside the “emergency period” of 5 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On March 6, Princeton Citizen Scientists and Princeton Advocates for Justice held the Day of Action in Frist, a day-long event to encourage learning and debate about social, environmental, and political issues facing the country and internationally. Professors, students, and alumni held over 60 teach-ins to discuss a variety of pressing topics, and to inspire community members to take action to make change.
